Default newbie...what do you suggest?

What kind of small game would be available to me in Northern MS? i'd prefer not to invest in a dog...although i probably will a little later down the road

well, i know what is allowed to hunt but i don't know what all is okay without a dog to tree, or run the game. i know coons and rabbits are done with hounds and beagles but is that "necesary" or can it be done on foot without being nearly impossible?

i plan on moving to Mississippiin the next few years so i want tostart intosome small game/predators. i live in the city in michiganwith my parents now, so all i can do(in my situation)is hunt deerwith my dad.

You can hunt rabbits and coons with out dogs. Depending on legality of your stateyou can walk around and spotlight coons. You can also hunt rabbits on foot too. If you go out on a sunny day and walk around near cover (brush piles, old junk, etc)you can find them sitting out in the sun.

I don't think shinning coons is legal in most states. CHECK YOUR GAME LAWS FIRST! Like WYO said, you can hunt rabbits without dogs, but most states require you to tree coons, before you can cast a ray of light on them.

In Nebraska you can shine as long as your not attached to a vehicle and in Wyoming you can as long as your on private land.
