Default red lens?

I was wondering what you guys use for red lenses OTHER THEN THE ONES MADE FOR IT for night hunting? I want to try it out and am going to get a spotlight and put some sort of clear red lens on it....What should i use for a lens? I've heard people saying that a clear red binder works great but what else?
Thanks Alot
Mike
