Which gun for coyote

I'm hoping to head out and try to get a coyote this year. I was wondering which gun I own I should use. I have a marlin 30-30. A Marlin Camp 9 9mm. A SAR 8 in 308. A 7.62 x 39 MAC 90. And of course my slug gun. And I also have a swedish mouser. All shoot fairly well. The shotgun is my deer gun, I know its a big hole and would rather not use it, butI'm most comfortable with it.

I'm leaning toward the Camp 9 only because ammow is fairly cheap and I think itshould work out to 100 yards. The SAR8I was thinking was a bit much but another thread said use FMJ and it won't tearthem up to bad. The MAC 90 I thought the same but it shoots sweet. Unfortunatly I believe all my ammo for that is hollow point.

I'll have to head out an practice with any one I choose. And if I actuallyget a coyote I may change guns then (thinking of buying a 270). I just want to have thebest chance withwhat I have for the first one.

The .308 would be my choice. Experiment with different bullet grains and look around online you might find some really low grain bullets that won't do as much damage.

If your looking to just kill them the .308 will do the job very well! If looking for a mount or saving the pelt a .308 will not do the job! I use a .204 and it drops them in their tracks with no damage with correct shot placement, a 22-250, 223 are also great rounds to kill with minimal damage!

The swed is one of my guns as well. I hunt for fur so i dont use it on coyotes only on big game, but I would have to use it over any of those guns for the wicked ol yote. If u do get into it pretty well and want to get a good gun get something from these:
1. .223 ackley 2. 17 rem 3. 204 ruger 4. 220 swift 5. 221 fireball 6. 22 hornet
Any of those will be the best. I say this a lot and some listen some dont...but dont use the 22 lr or the 22 mags for yotes, cats, or fox. U wound way to many and probobly will wound them all.

There used to be ammo for the .308 called the Accelerator, I think it was made by remington. Basicly it was a round designed for varmit/predator hunting. It was a 55 grain or so bullet, and it had a sabot like casing around the bullet. I couldn't find it on their web site anymore so I dont know if they make it anymore.

Ballistics look damn good for that accelerator ammo. I would try that in your 30 30.

I wouldn't use the accelerator myself.

if you use the accelerator in the 30-30, put one shell in the magazine and one shell in the chamber. you dont want to run the risk of a magazine detonation(sp).
