Considering how warm south Louisiana (where are you?) is during most of the winter, i would think that any cold snap where it gets below 30 would have them denned up or not moving much. Hell, they don't move very well up here when it is getting down to 20 at night. But then again, if you are trapping a small area, you may have simply caught most of the ones in that vicinity and have the rest spooked.

I am in Merryville Louisiana. I live on a 3000 acre hunting lease i think there is about 10 million more we see when we are deer hunting all the time during the day. They are hudge. I am fixing to spotlight alot. I went the last 2 nights and havent killed 1.

I have a lot of family down around Starks.Years ago, I used to do some trapping with a cousin that lived between Vinton and Sulphur. It was great for coons, mink, and bobcats.

If you have that much land to work with and arent having much luck lately, i would think that it is the cold that has them denned up.

Up here in Minnesota anytime once it gets below 30 they all stop moving and hold tight to thick cattails or go into old abandoned buildings... I would say if you have any areas where there are thick cattails around slough edges look for their trails going through them and set your traps along/on their trails.
