Default Predator Decoys

I've tried my homemade electronic coyote call a few times recently and after it worked the first time I haven't had any luck with it since.

Do you guys think that a motion decoy would help much or do I just need to figure out some better call sequences and make sure I'm hidden away better?

I was looking at a couple of the expedite decoys, the Quiver Critter Decoy and they also have a Quiver Rabbit Decoy.

Thinking it through in the open area that I would be using the decoys by the time the coyotes saw the decoy I should have already been able to see them and shoot them. Last time I was out I saw 2 coyotes hanging around at 275 yards but I didn't take a shot and they never came any closer and then disappeared but I didn't have my caller at the time.

Does anyone use a motion decoy and if so do you think it makes a big difference?

Thanks, Nathan

I tried one a few times. I can't say that it helped any.

A decoy is the last piece of equipment that is necassary to call and kill predators. If you are hunting areas that you would see a coyote by the time it would be able to see a decoy, and you're NOT seeing coyotes, than a decoy won't help one bit.
And you don't have to be hidden away very well either. We sit in open country all the time and kill coyotes. I wonder if you're getting too far back into cover where you're not able to see your surroundings well enough. You need to sit where you have a good visual, especially your downwind side. Best if the down wind side of you is open ground. They can smell a human from a couplel hundred yards easily.
Don't over think the sounds you need to use. Simple distress still calls more coyotes than any other sound that you can buy.

funny you should ask about "motion decoys", several years ago i had a turkey decoy snapped right off its stake wile i sat 20 yards in front of it. the coyote apoached at mach 2 ran right past me so close i could smell him, grabbed the decoy and ran off. all this happend in the blink of an eye at point blank range. sort of ruined my turkey hunt but was the most exciteing thing i have ever seen in the woods. and yes i did try to blast him, by the time i snapped the gun to my sholder he was gone. the only motion in my decoy was the wavering broken stick the coyote left.
