Small Game, Predator and TrappingFrom shooting squirrels in your backyard to calling coyotes in Arizona. This forum now contains trapping information..
I hunt coyotes and bobcats in Oklahoma but it is also legal for me to take grey and red foxes. I have lived and hunted here for 15 years and have only seen 3 foxes and that was while I was driving down the road, I have never called one in. Should I be doing anything different to call in a fox than I do to call in cats and yotes, or just keep up what I am doing and hope I get lucky some day.
Where I hunt there are plenty of Red Fox. Coyote numbers are getting higher, and locals have been shooting them. I havn't had the opportunity yet.
But fox calling is just a rabbit in distress call or a rodent distress. I hunted two days ago and gave a bunch of rabbit in distress calls, and had one red come running in.
Best of luck

Hey thanks for the input guys, it sounds like Im doing everything right to call in a fox I just dont think I hunt in an area where there are many foxes. Like I said I have only seen 3 in the past 15 years. Maybe Ill get lucky and call in one of those 3. lol!
I bought a squirrel call to use for squirrels and on the call it had a distress call. Would that work for fox or coyotes? It's just a real high pitched squeal.

An animal in distress is an animal in distress, Coyotes aren't picky when it comes to an easy meal! I try to have a good variety of distress calls, especially late in the season when they get call shy!
