Default .223 or .22-250 for Coyote and bobcat??

There are probably a thousand posts on here about this topic but I couldnt find any. Anyway, I am thinking of buying a new rifle to hunt coyotes and bobcats here in Oklahoma. I know the 250 shoots a lot faster but I keep the furs and was wondering how much damage it will do to a coyote or bobcat. Maybe some of you more experienced varmint hunters have shot yotes and cats withboth of these calibers and could give me some pros and cons of each.

I haven't killed either with that round but have with my .204, drops the coyotes in their tracks except for 1 which I couldn't find due to my bad shot placement. The .204 is a very fur friendly round as well, especially if your going for Bobcats! Good luck!

ya know I have both Id stick with the .223 its lighter and more compact and you can shoot a fox if ya see it with out destroyin it or Ive heard about these .17s that are awsum for varmits but if you want to deer hunt with it also go with the 22-250 the .223 I know from experience is not a good deer gun but the .223 almost has no kick and is good for very fast shooting so it just depends on what it will be used for

I've shot two yotes with a .22-250. It puts them down but isn't very fur friendly. I think the .204 would be an awesome fur taker.

.204 is where it's at. If you are considering a 22-250, but you are concerned with pelt damage, you need to at least look at the .204. The .223 will be cheaper to shoot with a greater variety of ammo to choose from, but my .204 with 40gr V-Max lays down the coyotes in their tracks with virtually zero pelt damage.

Do you reload? Get the 223 or the 22-250 and use A-Max for the 22-250 or 69 grain Serria matchfor the 223. The 22-250 has been slow to catch up with varmint hunting craz, twist being too slow for the heavier bullets and the bullets for the 22-250 are still being loaded with rapidly expanding bullets which causes the fur damage.
