Small Game, Predator and TrappingFrom shooting squirrels in your backyard to calling coyotes in Arizona. This forum now contains trapping information..
I like to rabbit hunt, but usually it's only a by-product of squirrel hunting. Where do some of you hardcore rabbit hunters go to hunt, in terms of what kind of cover they are in? And if there are wisconsin rabbit hunters in here, where do you hunt for them? (Don't worry, I'm not trying to invade your hunting area, just looking for an example of good rabbit areas.)
we hunt marsh rabbits in a couple dried up slues . you have to run a dog but it make for soem exciting chases and we usually limmit out in a few hours!! next would be cut overs.

why do i hunt? bible tells me to.
13 Then a voice told him, "Get up, Peter. Kill and eat."
That comes straight from Acts 10:10-13.
The thickest stuff you can find. Briars and thorn bush thickets are great. If you can find and overgrown apple orchard, rabbits hoard in them. Slues are also great places along as cut-overs. Any THICK THICK THICK will hold rabbits.
I assume you are jumpshooting or still shooting them, meaning you aren't running them with dogs. If so, some of these areas may be hard because you will never see a rabbit just walking and trying to find them.
Good luck, post your results!

That's right, wabbits will be squatting in the thickest briars, alders, etc. you can find. We went to upper WI last year for a snowshoe hare hunt and will be back again in Feb./March. We had a blast the runs were phenomenal to say the least! I'd recommend using dogs though, I don't jumpshoot, if we jump one, we call the dogs over and let them do the rest.
