Default Coyote hunting

Im looking into coyote hunting but my problem is that I don't really know which gun to use. I've heard of people using .22 but I wouldn't know how it would do. I also have the option of a 30-30.

Don't know if I can do it or not, but I have a doe only season coming up here in Illinois, (mid january)but the thing is I have all the meat I need already, but I still have tags- I suppose I could take my 20 ga. and some calls with me and turn it into more of a "coyote season"?

So basically my options are .22, 20 ga. slug, or 30-30. I would have a real wide range of shots. But like I said, any help, great!

I would go with the 30-30 if it was me. If you dont make a perfect shot with the .22 your going to end up loosing a bunch of yotes.

As long as you aren't hunting them for pelt money use the 30-30, blow 'em up, and keep hunting. A .22 won't do the job, even inside 50 yds I believe. If you are hunting for the pelts, get traps, then use the .22. Go have fun, but make sure you shoot good. Good luck.

yeah see I dont know, I mean I would want to keep the pelts on occasion, I mean if it was a really pretty one, but I dont really have any other options besides those three. I mean besides the 30-30 my only other choices are the .22 and the 20 ga. slug which doesn't really seem to tear the deer hide up all that much. I dont know.

My uncle has killed LOTS of yotes with his .22, I mean he doesn't HUNT them with it, but if he sees one he shoots it because he ALWAYS has his .22 with him. But then again he's probably the best shot Iever seen.

With the choices that you have, if it were me, I'd use the 30-30. I have a Win94 and it works fine.
