Default New to coyote hunting

I'm wanting to get started in coyote hunting, but I don't know what I need. I've started getting Predetor Magazine, but as far as calls I'm not sure where to start. I have a shotgun i've set up, but what about a rifle. The area I'm hunting only allows rimfire when its not deer season. Would a 22 mag be sufficant.

I would start with the Randy Anderson(Primos) lil dog calls. Its come with a DVD and is a VERY informative DVD. Randy explains a lot of excellent information in it! The package of 2 calls and DVD are $24.00 and is well worth it! The electronic calls are nice......nice and expensive!

i like the johnny stewart mouth calls they seem to do good. for your area where rimfire cartridges are needed, a 22 mag. would do just fine....

I would agree with BowHuntingFool. Randy Anderson does a very good job explaining how to call and his DVD's are packed with good kills. Primos calls are also very user-friendly! If you have the money step up to an elctronic caller, but you can be just as successful with mouth calls.

Ok, amny peoplewill tell you that the .22 mag is an excellent gun for yotes, fox, and bobcats. But you will wound way more than you will kill, and tell you the truth you will probobly not kill very many if any at all. Dont use the .17 hmr either. I hunt for fur and these are the best choices that I can really give you.
.17 rem, .204 ruger, .223 ackley imroved, .220 swift, .221 fireball, .22-250. Some people will also to get the .243, Its a good gun dont get me wrong but Its a little to big for larger varmints (yotes, etc,). I also mentioned the 22-250, its got speed and pretty accurate, but its a leaves a little bigger hole than I need to fur hunt. Hope this has helped you out some.

I'm also new to coyote hunting. I have killed quite a few, but usually when I was hunting other critters. I was thinking of using downloaded mp3s of coyotes, wounded rabbits etc.. and playing them on a portable cd player (boom box type thing).
Will this work? Anybody else try it?
I'm kind of burnt out on bowhunting deer and these yotes need thinned out around here.

I bought a call called the "Little Sucker". You suck into instead of blow. its nice because calls can sometimes freeze up on you and let out weird unnatural sounds. It sounds great also. You will probly have to find it online though, I got mine at a show, it alsocomes with a CD.Good Luck Buddy.
