Default live trapping rabbit

Has anyone ever caught a snowshoe hare in a cage trap before? I've shot them before, but I want to try getting one in a cage trap and let it go just for fun. Do you use bait or just leave a two door set on a trail so it runs through it?

I've never trapped hare, but I've caught many a cottontail. Don't waste your time w/ the cage Havahart traps, they're worthless. I use pyramid traps for VA cottontails and they work wonders. I use both a fig. 4 & treddle type trigger and both work well. As for bait, I use a whole apple on the trigger, and sometime top it w/ some of my 'tame' rabbit droppings and vanilla extract. Let me know if you have any more questions, good luck!

this is what im good at, i luv trappping. Especially rabbits. I've never trapped a snow hare but many cottintail. It depends on the conditions whether to use bait or to set on a trail. Heavy snow, its hard for them to get food so use bait like apples or lettuce. Plain ground you can do both, if their usin a trail heavy you can use a rail set trap.if its just a sometimes use, you should go with the bait. And again if its a havey snow, find their den and set one there\. hope i was helpful.

no snows but cottontails....

wood box trap ...apples, lettuce, carrots....

I liek the leafy stuff because it keeps the squirrels out.....they go after the apples

they wont go through the other side. Wood Box traps work excellent too!!!! But dont worry about tarps, once the door shuts, got em for good.
