Must haves to call coyotes, 1)hand call, 2)good camo, 3)a gun of your choice, 4)places to hunt that HAS coyotes. There are many different calls to choose from. Go to www.allpredatorcalls.com, or if ya want to spend more money, check out the new electronic calls such as fox pro. Best success will happen with good camo head to toe, including gun, but a lot of predators are killed with out camoed gun. It is imporatant to blend into the surrounds well. And pick a gun. Almost any gun will work, but the fast and lite such as the many 22 cal. centerfires are favored by most. Shotguns will work well when loaded with the right load with the right choke. And last but not least, but most important, have places to hunt that holds coyotes. The more coyotes around, the better your success will be. If you have never called any predators, would be a good investment to pick up a good predator calling video, so that you will have some idea on how to do it. Good Luck!

I just got a new cottontail rabbit call. I can get the coyotes to come within hearing distance but I can never get them to come close enough to shoot at. Could you give me some advice on calling techniques.

well hoppie,if your getting them to come in but there hanging up on ya then you need a mouse squeeker or use the ever so effective lip squeek.these are called coaxer calls and if done right they will trot right to ya or charge at you so fast you have to shoot them to keep them from running into you.the lip squeek is simple, just kiss the palm of your hand or just kiss the air several times in a row.at this time(as howler would say)"you can seal the deal".
