Small Game, Predator and TrappingFrom shooting squirrels in your backyard to calling coyotes in Arizona. This forum now contains trapping information..
I've noticed that this can be a hot topic since many think that its underpowered for anything but squirrel. Wanted to see what you had to say.
As for me its what I use most (most of my grocery shopping is wild plants and animals) squirrel and rabbit mostly but also coyotes, raccons, opposums, snakes out in the feild, woodchucks, muskrat, fox, and once a bobcat trying to get at my dog

Obviously, the main prey my .22 seeks is squirrels. However, I've hunted racoons, groundhogs, dove, fox, crows, turkeys, rabbits and I've even killed a couple deer w/one..22s are in my opinion one of the best rounds ever created. You can do a whole lot w/them, they make a great training tool for youngsters and they are cheap to shoot.

just gophers, but sometimes for grouse and snowshoes. if there was a foot of snow on the ground and i was carrying stingers or yellowjackets, i might take a coyote if it was 50 yrds or less.
I shot a racoon at about 15 yards with a 22 mag. Bullet went in behind the right ear and out the left side right above the eye and it didnt kill it. The thing ran off for about 150 yards before he went down.

I highly doubt that.
I use it for squirrel, fox, oppossum, groundhog, crows, coon, chipmunks, doves, anything small that is legal!

my .22's have seen the insides of squirrel more than any other animal. but i have used them on snakes and armadillos. armadillos are tough--it took me about 6 shots with my .22 to bring one down.

I've taken squirrels, rabbits, birds, foxes, turkey and 2 deer (damage permits, in a populated area) with a 22 LR. They'll surprise you if you have enough accuracy to build your confidance as to what they are capable of.
