Shoot and eat rule is a good one but there are limits. I don't eat the yotes I shoot ect. Squirrels are of the rodent family and besides if they are not thinned mother nature will take caare of it for you with disease.

TEC,
How are we infringing on the animal's rights? How can an animal have rights?

The first thing I would do is talk to the fish wildlife and parks office and see what they say. In my experiance they are pretty willing to work with you.

I agree with eating what you kill, but there are exceptions. For example, we have alot of nutria here. They aren' t native, do alot of damage to the duck population, and it' s pretty much recommended that you kill them when you can, but I would never want to eat one! As far as squirrel, they don' t cause much trouble here, but I had them fried once and they reminded me of meat-flavored rubberbands! Must have been cooked wrong?

First off, Tecbowhut, mankind is above ALL, absolutely EVERY animal. God gave man dominion over them. The only reason they were here first, which was only a few days anyhow, is because God made everything ready for man before He put us here. Would you put patients in a hospital room while it' s still being built? We aren' t infringing on their habitat. They are our habitat. I can understand not wanting to kill what you won' t eat, but everything needs to be checked. It' s man' s job as a steward of God' s creation to do some " useless" killing. It isn' t killing just to kill. It' s killing to keep things in check. Even if you did shoot it and leave it lay, it won' t go to waste. A coyote or a hawk or something is going to find it and make full use of it. ' Cause they for sure like squirrel! So you' ll be helpin your deer hunting and feedin a predator at the same time. How could that be a bad thing?

Once you learn to become one with the woods them squirrels won' t matter because you will know how to move about the woods without disturbing them, and they will alert you when game is nearby!
