Unlike dogs, coyotes breed once a year. The actually breeding period is 2-4 days. The timing varies from region to region, but most breeding is done from mid. Feb. to early March with a63 day gestation period!

Does the gestation period ALWAYS take EXACTLY 63 days or are they like humans and can vary a few here or there?

Well, I do know that dogs can vary slightly, so I would assume coyotes gestation period can vary slightly as well!

Well I coon hunt and raise coon dogs. They go 62-64 days. For the most part you can bet on 63..on the money.

After my post..I started thinking.. So if a dog is in "heat" for usually 3 weeks. First week..coming in period. Second week, best time to breed. Third week...going out. Do coyotes do the same?
