Fur Auction in Illinois

On Saturday some friends took my furs along with theirs to the fur auction in Fairfield, Ill. It was a ripoff. I only got 234 bucks for 31 coons, a coyote, and 4 possums. The coons averaged about $7.50 even though I had a lot of top dollar coons in there. The same furs would have brought 9 or 10 dollars apiece from any fur buyer here in Ohio. But, at least coons are worth catching this year.

coons in your part of the country I thought would bring 15-20 bucks

Top dollar is around 12-14. I had gotten 12 for my big ones in Ohio, but the auction was evidentally a weird scene. My neighbors who took my fur are a couple of Mennonite teenagers at their first auction, so were easy pickings. If i had been there, i would have pulled the plug. But if "if's" were candy canes, everyday would be Christmas[:'(]

What'd you do with the meat? Around here the meat will bring $15-$20 if dressed and ready to eat.

The meat got fed to the coyotes. Where are they paying that much for coon meat?
