Default 270 Mag. Overkill?

I have justed started to hunt coyote this year. I don't have a varmint rifle but have a 270 Mag, 30-30. 22 cal, 300 short Magand a 308. Do you agree the 270 Mag would be the best out of these rifles. Or should I use the 22 and take nothing but head shots. Thanks for your input.

What do you mean by .270 mag? Is it a .270 wsm, or a .270 weatherby mag? Or do you just mean a regular .270 win? I have a .270 win that I use sometimes for coyotes. I hand load 90gr Sierra varminter bullets for it, but you could use anything. DO NOT USE the 22. There isn't such thing as too much bullet for shooting predators unless you are trying to keep fur. The .270 would be your best choice. You can buy 100 gr loads made by Remington that would be good for predators.

270 is good for killin 'em. 90% of the time you arne't going to be able to salvage the pelts.
