Default preserving squirrels for mounting

a teacher of mine asked some students to get some squirrels for his taxidermy class, and i was wondering how i should preserve them after i shoot em. is it alright to just vacuum pack and freeze them whole, or should i "gut" them first? thanks, i'll post pics if i get some

Yip, you got it, vacuum packed whole will keep them for a long time!
