Remington Eley club extras for .22 LR

I used to shoot Remington Eley Club Extras out of my Rem 597 LR and put them about all through the same hole at 50 yards the bullets were 40 grain soft lead, well the last few boxes I bought the bullets were silver and hard and no matter what I did I couldent make them shoot good. I am wondering if any of yall have noticed that or know why they would have changed the type of bullet that they load.
