Default 17 HMR?

Is this a good gun for hunting yotes. I have just recently gotten into calling coyotes while deer hunting. I understand that a .22LR is not a good gun to yote hunt with and that is all I currently own. So would the 17 HMR be a goodpredator gun. If not I could use some suggestions.

I own one and love it to death for beavers and other small game but it ain't no coyote gun. Go with a 22-250, 222, 223, swift, hornet etc. We argue about the 17hmr each year lol but take it from me, i own one.

as i stated in the other rimfire/coyote thread, i have been known to pack my Marlin 917VS with me and take head shots but i dont like to. usually thats only when i have it handy in the truck and i didnt expect to need a yote gun. given the choice though i would not, although a fun and very accurate rifle it lacks significant knockdown for larger animals. you dont want wounded animals if its something you can help.

the hmr will kill a coyote with a good shot but you would be better off with a 22mag in rimfire but i would go with a centerfire you can get a stevens 200 for around $250 in .223 or 22-250 and it will shoot mine in 223 shoots 1 inch groups at 100 yards with factory ammo it has a $35 dollar bushnell 3x9x40 on it does just fine until i can buy a better scope
