Default Mt. Lion sightings

I know in some other states is not uncommon to see these but out here where i am, it is. There were three sightings in less then two weeks. I heard aboutthis one but i didn't realize how close it was. There was a large male that came down and had to be killed because if was in a residentarea (to my understanding, an school wasvery close by). The town i live in is a pretty good size place and with hills near by, its wierd to think Mt. Lions get that brave. I do recall there was one that came down several years ago close to one of the colleges out here (we have two) no humans were attacked but several pets were. I know Mt.Lions are protected but what will happen if attacks starting happening more and more and some are fatal? Just like some feedback on this one

Well, they get an occasional jogger and bike rider in California, and unless a west-coaster has an update, they are still protected. As I recall, authorities try to track and kill the man eater. Someday the wrong jogger will get killed and things may change.

Lets face it, some critters are dangerous. This is one IMO.

I agree with you there Jake. Sad to say the number of attacks, especially fatal ones, most likely will be high before anything can be done about it

It all comes down to them loosing their fear of human's... primarily because they are now protected and not hunted... and once humans are seen as an easy meal well you know the rest.

The big cats have quite a range from what I understand. One had a radio collar, and it went south from Canada, across the dakotas and through Northern Minnesota, and then swung back up into Canada. We have had cougar sign here in plain old Iowa but not much in the way of sightings.

The DNR is naive about it, like they are with wolves. We have had a few sightings in the Middle Upper Penisula, they are scary things.
