Small Game, Predator and TrappingFrom shooting squirrels in your backyard to calling coyotes in Arizona. This forum now contains trapping information..
Set traps right at the base of the supports for your stand/feeders... whatever they are. You should be able to pick a few off each night, and that might make the rest leave. Another way... if you don't want deer setting them off, put traps in dirthole sets nearby to catch them. Otherwise, if legal, sit at night and spot them to shoot them.
I never seen that many coons at one time.Maybe trappers should set up a feeder and let the coons get use to it and haul in the load of hides.I think I would be worried about that many coons.I bet they do havoc on the game bird population in that area if the feeders wasn't set up.
Other than killing them?Quit feeding them.Yes they are characters to watch and become part of the family. How do you think farmers deal with the slaughter of cows? They let someone else do it.
Take up a new sport!! We coonhunt with bows here. Helps sharpen up those shooting skills quite nicely too. Actaully, if you trap them, you would need to relocate them at least 2 miles away, or they will be back. You can get in touch with the AKC Kennel Club and let them have competition hunts, or lease it for other coon hunters to run thier dogs.
