Default Electronic calls for yotes

My husband is going to be hunting coyotes in Jan. Feb. and March, and would like to know if electronic calls are good or if there are other calls that work better. How would you sequence the call or do the electronic calls "do all the work"? We were reading the other post about a beginner getting started into coyote hunting and your responses, but he didn't see anything about electronic calls.

Any advice for a beginner would be good. Is it best to hunt from the ground or from a stand? Any other tactics or strategies that have worked for you?

E-callers work well. Are they the best thing going, not in my opinion. They do, how ever, compliment a good set of hand calls. The best E-callers on the market are very pricey! If money's not a problem, I'd suggest a Fox Pro oraMinaska! They both have a great selection of differant sounds, enough so that you could effectively call predators with only them, and no hand calls. They are pretty much, push a button and play! Some play them constantly, and other hunters turn them on and turn them off!
I'm stilla bit old school, I like my hand calls better thanany E-caller that I've heard! BUT e-callers work, so says a lot of predator hunters!

If you've got the money to shell out for a good unit, like a FoxPro, they are very good tools to have. But if you don't, they aren't necessary, and you can spend $40-50 bucks on a couple of mouth calls, practice with them a little, and they will work just as well.

I've got a FoxPro FX3, and it is a good unit. It has a remote that allows me to switch sounds, control the volume, and start/stop the call. I set it out and start it for 15 seconds or so, then stop it for a few minutes, then start it up again. Predators' ears are very quick, and it doesn't take them long to locate the sound and come running.

I don't hunt much from blinds, especially when using mouth calls. The blind muffles/deflects the sound too much for my liking. I carry a camo folding chair to where I am going to call and then set up so as to minimize my outline (I also usually wear 3-d camo). I try to set up so that I can either limit the coyotes ability to approach me from downwind, or I can see downwind further than he can probably get a good sniff of me.

the others pretty much spelled it out for ya. Personal prefference is the difference between mouth or E-callers. If predator hunting is something he will do often, then yes an E-caller would be a good thing to get. They hold all your sounds and it is just push and play. Mouth calls work well but you have to practice ALOT and hand calls require movement that the predator could see. What type of hunting, coyote population and other things will help him determine what he wants. If he decides on mouth calls then there is a Butt load of custom call makers that make very fine looking and working calls, I like customs better than mass. produced calls but again, personal preference. Kee's calls, THO gamecalls and bunches of others will set you up nice.

E-callers are like handcalls, everyone has what they like. I use a Wildlife Technology E-caller. It is the only e-caller that uses ALL REAL animal vocalizations. The remote out performs all others. It is by far the best you can get. Minaska makes a pretty good one and the remote works well, and then there are the rest.
There is NO magic pill when calling predators.
