I would say yes, if you are shooting them to keep them. The smallest thing that I would use it on would be coyote. But thats just me.

I have been debating getting a .204 for fox and coyote. Currently I use a .22-250 but is quite loud for night shooting and does quite abit of fur damage. If I do get one I will wait until a wildcat version comes out.

sullivt: the .204 won't be much better for night hunting. It is as loud as my AR .223 with a 16" barrel.

some say it is louder, I don't know but it's not quiet.

The new .17 mach 2 is a good one.
Or the old .22 long rifle.
Not 17 HMR it is to much/big for squirrel/rabbit.It tears them in half.
17 HMR is a necked down 22 magnum.
17 mach 2 is a necked down 22 long rifle.

There both flater and longer shooting bullets.
But for squirrel/rabbit Id say the .17 mach 2 is the ticket.
