Default Unidentified Growl?

Just about an hour before sunrise on 10/22 I heard a growl that sounded like it was from some kind of cat. I was waiting in a ground blind (to deer hunt)in Central Texas and we have both bobcats and mountain lions in the area.

The sound was probably about 3 seconds long and wasdeeper than the sound a housecat makes during a cat-fight. To me, it sounded like the sound apredatormight make as it's attackingsomething, since it wasn't constant. It seemed to varyquickly like the animal was engaged in some sort of activity. I couldn't tell how far away it was because sounds can carry pretty far down in the creek-bottom I was in. If I had to guess, I'd say about 150 yards, which would put it pretty close to a turkey roost.

Can anyone tell me what it most likely was...bobcat, mountain lion, or just a feral cat?

If it was near a turkey roost, I would guess a bobcat. But cats are normally silent when they attack prey.
