Got this smallish male (25-30lbs probably?) on 10/5 at around 6:45am. I was using a turkey call and the wind wasn't helping. Called a few times and he popped out quick around 200yds away and jumped back in the woods before I could get a shot. Called again and he came trotting out of the woods away from me and then jumped back in the woods. Called a few more times and he came out and stood broadside at 250yds. Took a quick shot with the 22-250before he had a chance to disappear again and he dropped right there.
Almost had another one tonight, MUCH bigger and only 75yds, but it was too dark. Couldn't tell it was a coyote for sure until he was heading over the hill with the light sky as a background. Oh well, LOTS in the neighborhood, many more to come!
My first coyote of the year, hopefully many more to come.
