remington 597 for squirrel?

I'm a newbie to the forums but there seems to be a lot of greatinfo here so my question is does anybody use the remington 597 .22 caliber for squirrel? Would you recommend this gun? I mostly hunt squirrel with my shotgun but I plan to use a .22 this year. Any help would be appreciated.

I use a Marlin model 60 .22 LR. Read alot of reviews on the 597 on here. It's been a while since I have seen a post but they didn't get good reviews from people.

Bought mine about 5 years ago, never had a hiccup. The rifle shoots so straight I put my 4x32 on see through rings and use the iron sights probably 75% of the time. Excellent rifle, love it.
