Small Game, Predator and TrappingFrom shooting squirrels in your backyard to calling coyotes in Arizona. This forum now contains trapping information..
I have tried trapping coyotes in the winter here in Minnesota, but never in the summer... and I'm assuming that the yotes probly won't respond well to lures during the summer... so would it be a good idea just to use scent posts to try to lure these yotes in? I am trapping on the cattle farm I work on and will be trapping on pastures... and was planning to try to set near cattle trails close to the fence. Thanks for any help.
I would think that lures and scents would work year round. Post sets where they commonly urinate should work also. Bait and food sets may work well too even though they will smell if they get rotten. don't know though, I have never trapped them in the summer. Snares at fence crossings too.
Set on sign. They won't be wandering about as much as in the winter. Use a howler and find out where they are and get it and set traps close to the den.
