ive done it and dont really care to do it again, not very humane. I learned that if you do use a 22 lr to shoot it in the brain with your first shot not your 3 rd shot.

There is not much more to add. I personally would not hunt coyote with a .22 LR, unless I only had that particular gun with me but not to be used for the intentions to just go coyote hunting. That has happened before, where I had only my Ruger 10/22 target HB with me, and caught a yote trying to go after a llama cria. One shot to the head area dropped it, and a second follow up shot to the head finally stopped it. But, in the end, I wish I had my higher powered yote rifles with me that day. Try going up in a higher power 22, from .222 and up. My .22LR is for target, short range ground squirrels and rabbits, and for other varmints like gophers and such.

well if its the only gun you own, would it be humane to go on a coyote-only hunt?

Well I have to say its been done and will continue to be done. Would I do it,NO WAY. Even a head shot would be hard because the bullet is so light and does not have a lot of energy. You would have to be with-in 30yrds to do much damage. I would say sell your 22LR and buy a H&R 22hornet single shot. My son has one and I would use it any day if the shots were under 100yrds, or maybe 150yrds with the right handload. Good luck Jovan

U NEED A .204! shoots 4225 fps out the muzzle and has outstanding accuracy above 400 yards. the .22 LR only shoots about 1300 fps out the muzzle and never has enough knockdown power. you might need a semi auto if you're shooting yotes with a .22 LR
