Be a nice round to work with. Make sure you stay away from ballistic tips or polymer capped. Try to work with projectiles that are not too soft toward the front, and aim at a more solid hit with a projectile that doesn't fragment too heavily, if at all.

I use my 243 for coyote hunting. I load up Hornady 75gr HPs at 3200fps for the task, and I have yet to have an exit hole on a coyote.

I would try to use a Full Metal Jacket (FMJ) round they dont expand much and usually go straight through. leaving an exit would the size of the entrance

Do you own a .243 or are you thinking about purchasing one?

If you are planning on saving the hides, a .222 or a .223 would be hard to beat. Both do a nice job killing the coyotes, and a good varmint bullet will leave only an entrance wound. I shoot a .223 with a fairly high twist, and I haven't had a varmint bullet exit yet, even at close ranges.

However, if you are thinking of using the gun for larger game, you'll need something bigger than these two rounds.
