Savage Model 12 22-250 is what I use. I love it!!

You might try a Mini-14. It's .223, which is what I think is a great overall round for small game and varmints. If AR's are legal in your state, they are fun to shoot.

Any gun in your likin' in the .223, 22-250, .220 swift, .243 will fit the bill nicely!

I have a Savage 11F in .243 and this is my coyote/prarie dog and back up deer gun. They are very accurate and very cheap for all that you get in the accuracy, accu-trigger and descent stock.

I have one of each. I use the mini with a 3-9X40mm scope.

i shoot a savage model 12FV single shot in .204 cal

you can also get the same gun with a 4 round internal box magizine

i think this caliber is too sweet to pass up ! no recoil, low sound when fired, more than accurate enough past 200 yds, won't demolish the hide yet kill on impact. . . . . and very reloadable!!

my backup gun would be the savage model 12 in .243
ya can't go wrong with either caliber
