About 2 months ago I was groundhog hunting with my girlfriend's dad. A coyote with a small animal in it's mouth ran across the corner of the field but didn't stop to give me enough time to get a shot off. Since then we've been wondering if it was a female taking food back to pups. Well last friday he got a call from the farmer (his brother) saying he saw the momma and 2 pups. That night he went and sat in the field they were seen at and ended up getting 4 pups! They were probably 20lbs or so (guessing by their size). Coyotes were rare in their area, so shooting 4 was unheard of.
Tuesday I'm going out with him and a buddy of his who has a coyote caller to see if we can get the momma and the rest of the pups. They think they heard another 2 or 3 pups along with the momma after it got dark.
Cross your fingers, I'm hoping to get my first coyote
anyone have any tips for me? the only thing i've hunted before are groundhogs.
