Default Startled fox

Me and my dad went out target shooting really but we seen a nice crow, so he graabed a one 22 and i grabbed the other 22(this is all we had with) we went different ways and as i was walkin up a hill i seen a fox it wasnt lookin at me but i kneeled to take a look at him, but i snapped a twig on the ground. It turned around got up and started like growling/hissing at me so i raised the gun and he took a step forward a shot the ground right infront of it and he tookoff runnin. I didnt want to shoot him cuz i would have to report him and foxes are out of season so i dont know wat the officer i would talk to do. well i was wonderin if i did the right thing or should i of put one right between the eyes, and should i report this to an officer, and i never heard of a fox actin like this is somthin wrong with it??

Default RE: Startled fox

he could have been rabbid.when they are sick with rabies they aren't to scard of anything.thats the only reason I know that he would not run as fast as he could at first sight.
if not in season, then you probably did right.call the wildlife officer in you are and tell him. they will probably just pass it offr, but may want to check the area?

JMHO.
