Default Coyote with green fur?

Sort of the wrong season to discuss this, but this year, i got a yote with a bunch of green/blue fur on his back, belly, and legs. Was thinking that maybe some of you folks could help me figure out why he has it.. It didnt come out when i fleshed or washed em, and he actually sold for a decent price to my surprise. He was a large male with quite gold coloured fur. Just sort of remembered and thought id post it to get your advice on how it happened.... Its obviously not natural , but i thought that it could be from wet paint on a fence he slid under, or maybe a piantball gun?

Here is the only picture i have of him with a little bit on his back, i should have taken more with his legs and belly...It was pretty cool when you looked at the whole coyote, becuase he looked so off coloured. He had this same amount on his belly, just more spread out, and alittle bit on each leg down near each paw.... Not too sure myself how it got there, any ideas?

Thanks,

Sako7mm

Just an idea, I know my dad has had problems with coons getting into all the wrong places around the farm. So, he live traps them, and puts a bit of spray paint on them before releasing them several miles from the house. If he catches a coon with paint on it, strike two, and that's all they get!! So, I wonder if that coyote was trapped and someone marked it so as to be able to identify it in the future?

Looks like he walked into a DNR dye trap. They use them to track predator populations in some areas. The dye weathers really well, and won't usually come out with standard detergents.

first guess was a paintball gun but its non toxic and washable. and if its a paintball gun u would of found parts of the ball actually in the fur depending on how long hes been like that. i know alot about paint ball!!!
