Bonners Ferry, Idaho... Refuge.
I know there is a few people from north idaho around, and was wondering if anyone has been to the refuge in bonners ferry recently? I was thinking about going there, but with the recent snow and cold weather i am thinking that it is frozen to thick to even break up? what do you think? how about the pack river also, anyone had any success there?

I hunt the refuge a lot. You're right,it's frozen solid. We have been hunting geese in some of the fields around here. We do hunt ducks on the river, but so far it has been spotty. We're hoping for more birds from up north in the next couple of weeks. I'm not familiar with the Pack River, but I have some friends who hunt the flats with some success.
Good hunting,
Michael

Yeah, you need a boat and a dog. Unfortunately I do not have a retriever, but a friend of mine does, so I get to go with him occasionally. I am first and foremost a grouse hunter. My dogs are Gordon Setters and not suited for water retrieves. I do sometimes go on the river without a dog, but it's tricky. Beach the boat downstream and if a bird lands in the river ( which they will ), hurry to the boat and try to pick it up in the water.
