Default Anybody carry a pellet gun while deer hunting?

For squirrels that is. Is there one quiet enough?

I can go squirrel hunting and barely kill my limit, but when I'm deer hunting I'll see a hundred it seems like. I'm sure everybody has that same problem.

Make sure it's legal where you hunt, usually find that to be the rule though. Hunting deer, find turkeys, hunting squirrels find deer, etc. Check out Squirrels Unlimited for some more info.

Seems dumb to me.

Prime example: 160" buck 50yrds away out of sight in the brush, headed your way, take a shot on a 2lb squirrel, it flops like a fish on the dry leaves, scares off your unseen buck.

Nobody buys a tag for a squirrel, and in most states, you can hunt squirrel a LOT longer during a year than deer. Get your priorities in line. You're out hunting deer, hunt deer. If you'd rather hunt squirrels and deer hunting is getting in the way of your squirrel hunting, then why carry the deer rifle at all, just go hunt squirrels.

I have a ruger blackhawk and it is kinda loud. The gun is very light though and doesn't hake to long to load. It might not work while your deer hunting. It's not that loud but I think it would be a great gun to squirrel hunt with.

I agree with Nomercy448.. If ya deer hunting, deer hunt.. If ya want to squirrel hunt, squirrel hunt.. Ya might only wound the squirrel and loose it if you are in a stand.. Ya need to be able to move while squirrel hunting, and there is more to squirrel hunting than just looking for them as they are in travel.. Squirrel hunting in my world is a 2 man operation.. A lot of squirrel nest have vines that you can snatch on to run them out.. One of you have the bead on the nest as the other snatches the vine..

i sometimes will carry the .22 or .410 during bow season if there is a "problem" squirrel that will hit my bait every morning if he really starts bothering me or spends a ton of time scampering around I'll bring him home for the pot.
never stopped me from bringing home my buck sooner or later. have fun in the woods cause that's why we're there.

They sell a pellet gun with a suppressor on it already. I find it still loud though. You dont want to kill a squirrel than it makes noise and lose your chance at a buck.
