Default Load info for 130gr. Barnes Triple Shock-270 Win

I am new to reloading, and I have a box of 130gr. Triple Shock bullets for my 270 Win. What I don't have is a Barnes reloading manual. Can anyone give me some starting load information? Powders I have are IMR4350 and4831. Thanks for any help

grover33,

You want data for .270 Win and not WSM correct? The TSX bullets are not in Barnes reloading manual No.3. They are slowly releasing the new TSX reload data to Barnes Copper Club members but as of this date the only thing they have completed is the .30 caliber cartridges. I don't know what is next on their list. Their No.4 manual isn't expected out until spring to summer of next year. They are currently developing loads.

The 130 gr. XLC is listed in their current manual and the load characteristics are generally (but not always) similar to the TSX. They show 52.0 grains to 56.0 grains of IMR 4350 and 54.0 grains to 58.0 grains of IMR 4831 for that bullet. Velocities listed are 2966 to 3194 and 3036 to 3261 respectively. One grain less on each end for the standard X-bullet.

Their suggestion to me is always start a grain or two lower than the X-bullet. Then work up from there trying not to go more than about two grains more than the X-bullet numbers. It takes a little more to get the same pressures from the XLC and TSX. Use a chronograph if you can to look at your velocities and watch for signs of excessive pressure on the bottom of the case. Good luck.
