How do you get the excess fletchin glue off of your shafts after you remove the fletching. I used bohnings fletching removal tool to get the fletching off but I still have some excess glue on there. How can I get it removed? Thanks.

Denatured alcohol and acetone work well for me.If there isn't muchglue lefton the shaft after fletching removali use the alcohol but if there's still quite a bitleft onthen i use the acetone. I know some guys who soak the ends of the shaft in acetone but i personally don't see the need to do that, i just put some on a rag and rub lightly and it works well.

Acetone works ok, but I couldn't get the new fletchings to stick to the arrows worth a darn after using it. I think you have to wash/scrub the arrows to get the acetone off afterward, even though it looks like it evaporates away.

What works better for me is Steel Force Beyond Clean arrow soap/cleaner. Just a little bit of that and a plastic green sos-type pad takes everything off, no problem. I've never had any issues with the new fletchings not sticking afterward, either. It's maybe not quite as cheap as acetone, but it's pretty inexpensive.

Take a knife and lightly scrape it at an angle. Works for me.

.....and for a long while too. I usually get a few beers drank removing fletches and glue. I scrape and scrape and rub on alcohol and scrape and alcohol again.

Point being...alcohol is your friend here.

Slightly dull knife at a very high angle. Rub them till there is no resistance. Then take the acetone to the shafts.

On my aluminum shafts I use a utility knife and rotate arrow as I cutfletching off in a pretty fast action w/ the razor blade , then wipe left over dust and particles off ,wha ladone deal.
