For coyotes & chucks, yes, if you can handle it.
A minimal deer cartridge (with 100gr. bullets).

I had a 6mm Remington many years ago. It was in the 788 Remington rifle. It was a tack driver but had the wrong twist for spire point 100 grain bullets. It however killed deer like a lightning bolt with the 100 grain Hornady round nose. It was a left hand bolt action though and a friend of mine wife had Lazy eye and needed a left hand rifle. I was nice enough and dumb enough to sell it to her. I tried to buy it back but sha had fallen it love with it by then and I was out of luck. I have had pretty good luck with the hornady round nose in the 6MM and 243. It seems to expand better. I think you will love the rifle.

As mentioned above, they are better used for varmits and small deer.

James, I am left dominate eye also and I use a small sticker just to cover
my left eye pupil on my shooting glasses. Not the eye just the pupil. Been
doing this all my life. Have never used a left handed rifle. I shoot quail, doves,
turkeys and ducks with a shotgun, no problems at all.

My uncle has shot a 6MM for years and loves it. It works great for a deer rifle if you place your shots right.

The 6MM can achieve some impressive velocities with handloads. In my opinion one of the best factory loads for the 6 is the Federal Premiium 100 gr. Nosler Partition. I owned a Winchester Model 70 Featherweight for several years and took a number of deer with the gun. I can attest that the Partition will completely penetrate a deer's front shoulder out to at least 180 yards. I say this because I have shot a number deer out to that range and through the shoulders anchors them on the spot.

The only problem I had was my rifle was a short action as yours is. If you are going to handload just seat the bullets out as far as the magazine will allow. You still will not be able to get close to the lands but I still had no problem finding an accurate load.

The 6mm Rem. is my favorite varmint rifle. I use the 80 gr. for long shots and as you stated, it's very, very accurate. I have never used the rifle for deer hunting, but with the 100 grain bullet with a well placed shot should do the trick.
