My brother found a funnel many years ago a high dry area between two wet cedar swamps. A old logging trail goes right to the edge of the west most cedar swamp and there was a loop turn around made....

I would not look for rubs till about a month before peak of the rut. Scrapes seem to pop up about the same time every year too. All that gimmick stuff is what ever you want to do.
