Cool,

Thanks for your reply !

I'm thinking about a 50mm objective.

Would you move to medium than ?

Keeping in mind with the Butlers covers on it.................

No prob! Just checked & the BC flip up covers fit on my T3 w/ VX3 40mm no problem. Not sure if a 50mm will fit w/ the BC covers though.

I used Tally LW lows. If I did not use these, my second choice would be Warne's factory replacement.

I really do not like the factory rings, but some folks seem to have used them without issue. I just don't want to chance my stuff failing at the top of a mountain, after I spent several hours getting into position for a shot at a good animal. YMMV.

Nonsense. There is nothing wrong with the rings that come with the Tikka rifles. Maybe something wrong with the way they were installed. Over tightening is the biggest cause of ring failures.

I put the permanent Warne rings on my daughter's .243 and it only had one ring with the lug. It goes on the front ring I believe. I've heard lots of bad things about the stock Tikka rings. I wasn't going to risk losing a deer just for saving a couple dollars using free rings. I love Warne rings, they're beefy. And another thing, as you tighten down the screws, the scope doesn't tilt from side to side. It stays firmly in place. Many competition shooters and even snipers use Warne.

My l used rings now to weaver base also made rings.
But at present they make a steel base which hase a double grip.
First introduced into the dovetail and further bolted to the receiver box and the words of the man who is doing would be piled and approximately 3 mm. lower.
Becoming what l hope will be soon upload pictures.
