i dont know of any in destin but i lived in panama city for 21 years up till a few months ago and most of the best charter boats are at the treasure island marina but ill list some boats i know and numbers so you can call for prices and all and all these are 850 area codes

southern hooker 234-1308 or at home 234-0127
reel fun 234-2582 or 1-800-355-5633
lucky day 233-6851
good time 230-1117
dreams wake 867-3474
gotta believe 234-9409
Transition charters 784-8143

and heres a few from the captian andersons marina

blue water 234-6205
no problem 234-7963
most of these boats do full day and 1/2 day trips and they provide all the tackle and lisences and all but check with them on everything when you call and if you want to let me know and ill get you some more numbers all these are just buisness cards i still have from when i worked over there a few years back but ive still got a panama city phone book at home and i can get you some more numbers if needed

by the way the captian andersons marina and the treasure island marina are in the same lagoon just on opposite sides and if the charters turn out to expensive or anything captian andersons has "party boats" where they take out alot of people on a big boat bottom fishing for snapper and grouper and they usually do pretty good i have friends who go alot and i think they charge around $60 a trip or so and they usually do decent but it wont be as nice as a charter boat and i think thy also provide the fishing gear to but im not 100% positive on that one but if you want the numbers for those ill get them for you

How close are these to Miami? Is the fishing good down there right now?

Fishing in both places is great... just different. In miami you are fishing in the ocean. in panama city you are fishing ni the gulf. i would fish around miami first though... another great place (my favorite)) to fish is around Fort meyers. what are you hoping to fish for? also, be sure you charted a boat with a small group, otherwise there will be like 40 people and everytime anyone hooks up, you have to reel in. not much fun.
