I live down the shore in Southern ocean county in tuckerton NJ and went out fishing and smoked the weakies. I got 6 in the 8 lb range. All from 27 to 30 inch range. What a great 3 hours of fishing. Man they are starting there run guys so get out to your favorite spots and have at them they have finally arrived.
I better start sweet-talking the wife and get my fun pass. It's been a while and the boat has been lonely. Thanks for the report. Those are nice sized fish.
Good to read someone is getting into them! It has been a few years since I fished the middle grounds. A lot of good memories stomping around those islands clamming as well! Caught anything else since this post?
actually pointinglab is correct. the weakie is a member of the drum family.
I have done some more crabbing than anything else right now as I have had two surgeries this past month so I cant really fish. But in LBI they are getting huge stripers right now on bunker and you don't have to be on a boat either.
