Default anyone fish the outer banks?

got a trip planned for the summer and researching how to catch stingrays with poor results, caught a couple as a kid living in corpus christi tx, but that was 40 years ago.
Am looking to catch a few to use for shark bait.

I have fished it many times. usually isn't too hard to hook up on a few. In fact many years ago when my boy was about 8, he caught them with is hands. First time ever seeing so many in the surf. When they move in, the blues and croaker move out.
When are you going?

You should be good. In the evening they come in regurlarly. I would plan on fishing after dusk with cut bait. However, you may end up with sand sharks as well. I have also caught them in the sound as well. Just wade out there and use anything from live minows to cut bait. I hooked a huge one on my little bass rod. Faught him for an hour running up and down the sound to keep him from spooling me. One run I stepped into a channel that was over my head.

What are you going to do for sharks? Go out on a boat or fish from the surf by kayaking out your bait and drop it off?

Look into dropping one rigged offshore reel like a Penn 50 if you can get your hands on one. Use a kayak to drop your bait way past the breakers. The record shark caught from the surf is just shy of 450 I think.

I have an Okuma Solterra slr20L reel, essentialy an equivalent to the Penn 4/0, holds 700 yards of 80 pound braid, but with a better drag than a Penn. what I'm hesitant about is I'll be alone so kinda lerry about takin a kayak out in the surf with noone around if I get in trouble, cause frankly, have very little experience on a small boat in rough water.
