place to fish at the ocean?

I was thinking about going fishing at the ocean. I went fishing off a jetty before but i didnt know if that was the best place. Should i go in the bay or somewhere else? what fish would i catch where?

When I go to Mexico I surf fish with a 15' surf pole and spinning reel with 25lb test. I go to the fish market buy 2lbs of freash squid put it in the hook then 3 feet from hook a in line 1oz sinker fish in hi tide 2 times a day. Night is best. Take the cooler of beer and have fun unhooking sting rays. LOL

I go to the beach in new jersey and maryland.

Stick to the jetties and adjacent beach, look for deep holes at low tide and remember them for later.
Fluke, blues and stripers are running now.
