Default fishing San Diego

I'm visiting my sister in San Diego this week. I wanted to do a little fishing and was hoping someone could point me in the right direction. I don't have the funds to charter my own boat, but maybe a half day trip or even from a pier or something. Any tips, pointers or info into what has worked for you guys would be appreciated. I don't even have a rod and reel with me so I guess I'll be renting. Thanks in advance fellas..

I know this doesn't apply to you because of funds right now, but go check out the long range boats and pick up some info on them. I took a 5 day and will be going again with my son in a few years. Totally awesome fishing experience, well worth the money.
