I still new to reloading compared to most, I have been reloading for only 2 years. My biggest problem is I also love archery hunting and shooting. I do try to shoot my bow everyday starting now until October. I know this sounds crazy but I almost love reloading more than shooting guns. Don't get me wrong I love to shoot my rifle too. But for me I can shoot my bow in the backyard any day that I want and I can reload any time as well. With shooting rifles it takes a lot more time to set everything up, checking targets between shots, letting the barrel cool, exc.-ect. I just can't step out of the house and tell my wife I'll be back in 30 minutes. Also depending on the time of year and how much snow there is, I might have to travel almost one hour to a good spot to shoot instead of a quick 20 minute drive. A typical rifle shooting trip last a good 3 to 4 hours for me. Anyway my point is I love to reload and find it relaxing and I wish I did it more but I look at the ammo I need to shoot and think man I need to shoot up some of what I have before I work up more loads. Dang I wish I had more time to do a bit of it all during each day. That would be a perfect life for me!

I really don't spend a whole lot of time reloading. I only load for 4 cartridges, so it doesn't take long to do what I need to do. I can load 100 .223 Remington in just over an hour, and that will last me about 1-5 months depending on how many jacks I shoot. The 8mm, and .30-06 get loaded anywhere from 10-20 at a time, so its only a matter of 30 to 45 minutes max every few weeks, as the weather is good enough to shoot what I have left from the last batch. My 45 ACP gets probably about as much time as the .223 Remington.

I usually take about an hour after the kids are put to bed to kinda "wind down" and reload. I do this about 3 nights a week. I turn on the local country station, and mellow out. Sometimes I may just sit at my bench and read manuals, or sort brass etc. not always weighing charges or pressing bullets. I reload for 7 or 8 rifles, so there is always something to do. I try to save brass work until alot of it needs to be done at once, Ill prep 50-100 casings in one sitting that way Ill have my primed brass ready for months of testing. I absolutly HATE trimming and preping brass, so I do it all in one sitting.
I enjoy prepping brass and handloading. Have 1000s of rounds that need shooting and a couple calibers to load for.
In the winter months I prep and load for the 9mm, 357, and 270 this ammo will be used for spring/summer shooting. Everything else I'm playing with gets anywhere from 20-100 rnds loaded for each range session.
As far as time spent at the bench? I'm at my bench everytime I get on the computer. When I am able to shoot 1-2 times a week like I prefer, then I'm handloading anywhere from 2-5 hours each day.

RE: How much time do you spend reloading?
id say i probably spend anywhere from 20 to 25 hours ( upwards of 1500 pistol cartrdridges and maybe 150 to 200 rifle cartdiges) on a given month and load enough ammo to last me 3 to 4 months. then when im about out of loaded ammo back to the bench and load up another 3 to 4 months worth of ammo. pretty good system always have plenty of ammo on hand. I load for 2 pistols and 4 rifles in the calibers 38 spcl, 357 mag, 45acp, 223, 22-250, 30-30 and 308 ( 30-06 coming in the picture soon).

During the spring and fall leading up to hunting season I'd say about 15-20 hours per month. Although I recently went totally mechanical on my reloading bench, an RCBS Power Mate workstation, trims, chamfers, deburrs and cleans the primer pocket all at one shot and a lyman 1200 dispenser, really cuts the time at the bench.

I usually sit sown to my reloading bench in the winter, and then i really get going with loading. Got brass and bullets all over the place,so i will have enough when the good shooting weather comes along i will have enough, and won,t have to take time out to load up ammo. vangunsmith.
