Default 25 wssm load Question

Does anyone have any load data for this caliber?I would like to load a 117 gr.TBBC(.257) and Speer has no load data for this caliber and doesn't know when they will. Can I substitue load data for a different 117 gr bullet or not?Has anyone loaded for this caliber yet and if so any load data you have would be great. Thanks

I sure wish they would make a .257 WSM instead of a .25 WSSM. I would love to own a fast 25 for deer.

They do - but it seems to come under the heading of "too much of a good thing". Like the .257-.300 Win Mag, the .257 WSM has issues related to inconsistent velocities. There may be a new powder come out some day that will make this thing work, but for now its not a good wildcat. On the other hand, the 6.5 WSM is a real thumper capable of good accuracy and besting the .264 Win Mag performance by a considerable margin.

Under the category of Fast .25's, the .25-06 Ackley Improved is my favorite. It can equal the performance of a .257 Weatherby - with better barrel life and cheaper brass.

In response to the original question posted about the 115 gr. TBBC: I don't know about the .257 bullets - but in my .270 Ackley Improved, I tried the 140 grain TBBC and found I had to back the charge off about one grain compared to what I was using for the same weight bullet in a Sierra or Hornady. I think the back 1/2 of these TBBC bullets is similar to a Barnes X - solid copper - and they also generally show more pressure with the same charge as a conventional lead core bullet.

follow these links, lots of data here You can subsitute data for other simular bullets but just back off 10% and work up. I have a custom AR-15 25 WSSM and this load duplicates the factory win. 115 gr loading IN MY RIFLE, IT IS ABOVE MAXIMUM SO DO NOT USE IT IN YOUR RIFLE, without working up to it cautiously
win LR primer
115 gr nosler ballistic tip
47 gr. IMR 4350
3000 fps from a 22" SUM barrel
