Default 6.5X55 and 260 remington

My reloading books are old, could someone tell me if the 6.5 mm bullet can be use to load the Remington 260 or is the 6.5mm bigger.

270BR...To convert MM to CAL.>multiply MM by .040
To convert CAL. to MM> Divide by .040

While this is generally a correct statemnet one can be very confused by this.....for example the correct multiplier is not .040 it's .03937
Then it gets worse.....for example a 7MM bullet should be 7 X .03937 = .27559 and a real 7MM bullet is .284
Another example.....a 6MM bullet should be 6 X .03937=.23622 and it's really .243

I believe this is from the European bore diameter for the rifle bore prior to rifling.....not actual bullet diameter.

Vapodog, I just rounded off the figure to make it simple.
The 9 is over 5 so makes the 3 a 4
The 7 is over 5 so makes the 3 a 4
If you multiply 7mm x .040> .280 cal
If you divide .280 by .040> 7mm
I was stateing CALIBUR not DIAMETER....
Actually your figure would be .044...

Briman,
I am not quoting diameter, I am quoting Calibur.

8mm x .040> .32cal
7.62mm x .040> .31cal
7.5mm x .040> .30cal

8mm x .040> .32cal
7.62mm x .040> .31cal
.30cal / .040> 7.5mm
.243cal / .040> 6mm
6mm x .040> .24cal
