Default Tumble Bullets?

I was getting ready to get a tumbler for my brass and have read the different postings about which one's people like and don't like. But my question is, can I also tumble my bullets? I have 100's of tracer rounds pulled from military ammo and they are all covered in a bunch of grease, grit, powder and/or oil or something. Can I tumble these, without messing up them or my tumbler?

I've known people who tumbled bullets to apply a moly coating to them. I'm pretty sure the powder burning is what ignites the tracing. DOT classifies them as Hazardous Material (Explosive 1.4G). It should be safe to tumble them, but I'm not positive.

I just put a little gun cleaner on a rag and wipe them down. I've tumbled them before and some of the orange paint came off.
